A column I wrote for The Classical on the strange emotions that follow the Luis Suarez/Arsenal rumors.
The transfer window is a different experience for the Real Madrids and Paris St. Germains of the world. As fan bases spoiled by decades — or recent epochs fueled by oil money — worth of top-tier signings, the perpetual question is “Who do we want?” and “For how much?”. And, for the first time in the modern era, Arsenal is at least temporarily switching from game-keeper to poacher.
As a supporter of the Gunners, this feels like spending your entire life as a window shopper, then winning a spending spree in Saint-Tropez.
